Dr B. Maqueira is a software developer based in Cambridge and London, UK, with extensive experience programming in object-oriented PERL, Python, and Javascript.


Dr Maqueira holds a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge, where he extensively used PERL programming for data mining and bioinformatic analysis of biological sequences.

He has been involved in the development of large-scale, high-performance, database-driven websites, such as the online communities “” ( and “To be Continued...” (

As a Software Developer at the BBC, he was one of the main Monitoring Engineers developing applications for the monitoring of the performance and high availability of BBC applications and hardware. He is co-author of the BBCApplicationHost Zenoss Zenpack for the automated discovery & monitoring of BBC Applications, and author of the HP ILO and Twitter BBC Zenpacks. He is also the author of Memcached & CouchDB open source Zenoss Zenpacks.

Dr Maqueira is currently a Senior Software Engineer at CSR plc, working in a project to deliver the next generation of Wifi/Bluetooth chips testing platform
